Why I recommend a multivitamin

It’s simple. Research shows there are concrete benefits for most people! Taking a high-quality multivitamin is a worthwhile way to help make sure you have your nutritional bases covered. The truth is most people do NOT meet all their requirements through just food! I am a big believer of food first and adding supplementation for any nutritional gaps.

Why is it extra important to take a multivitamin when on hormonal birth control?

Unfortunately, the downside of taking hormonal birth control is that it can deplete some major nutrients. Taking a high-quality multivitamin while on birth control, can insure against hidden micronutrient insufficiencies that can sap your overall immunity, health, and vitality. I like to think about this as a nutritional boost & insurance plan!

Some of the major nutrients depleted with hormonal birth control:

  • Folate

  • Riboflavin

  • B6

  • B12

  • Vitamin C

  • Vitamin E

  • Magnesium

  • Selenium

  • Zinc

Note:  Hormonal birth control can be great for so many reasons (I am by no means anti-birth control). If you are going to take it, having a supplement routine and well-balanced diet can protect against nutrient depletions.

The supplements you take should be unique to your individual needs – everyone’s needs are different! Working with a Dietitian like myself can help you identify your needs in your diet and determine a supplement routine that is right for you. If this is something you are interested in, I’d love to work together! Sign up for a supplement consultation with me ☺
